Purpose in the Wind

Did you know that a tree has to have wind and storms to strengthen its roots? I am in awe.

Our Creator gave trees & plants a hormone called “auxin” that is released when it’s under stress from wind or storms. Through the release of the hormone, the roots grow deeper and stronger. There was once a study done by scientists who tried to grow trees in a manmade ecosystem, and the trees did not survive because they did not have wind! How great is our God?!

As hard as it is in the moment, I can assure you that the wind and storms in your life are there to *strengthen your roots*.

To everyone reading this, I am praying for this season to “stretch your soul into the deepest layers of grace.” As we feel our roots getting stretched - He is there to remind you of the purpose in the wind.

In November we discussed the verse from Psalm 1 that speaks about us being trees and Him being our water source.

Psalm 1 talks about the blessing of those who delight in God's word & meditate on it day and night. It says, "He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither."

Think about how a tree planted by water is so close to the water source, that even in a drought, the tree can stand firm. When our hearts are planted close to the Lord, what a gift it is to know that our 'leaf does not wither' no matter the season. We can feel weak on our own, but the faithful stream of water fueling our roots is our strength!

Thank you, Lord, for that promise. As we feel our roots getting stretched - He is there to remind you of the purpose in the wind.
